Site Context
Leam Lane's skatepark sits in the Wardley & Leam Lane area in a
higher-footfall, highly visible spot — and that visibility is one of
its main redeeming features, giving it good natural surveillance, unlike
several of the more secluded borough parks. Like every existing borough
park, though, it sits away from the town centre and offers no covered,
supervised, all-weather provision (see § 3.4).
User Observations
The bowl has recently been repainted and smoothed, but that has done little
to rejuvenate the park overall. The wider riding surface has degraded over
the years, and the obstacles are very dated and extremely limited. Apart
from the bowl it isn't beginner-friendly, and awkward dimensions mean it
isn't used much by anyone beyond beginner scooter and bike riders. It is
popular within that group — but on lack of alternatives rather than
quality. There is plenty of room for expansion and improvement. Formal user
counts and structured feedback would be confirmed through the Phase 2
community engagement programme (§ 2.5).

Summary
Overall44 / 100 — Poor
StrongestReplacement potential, 27/30 — usable expansion and covering headroom
WeakestWeather protection, 2/20 — uncovered and unlit
VerdictHigh-priority enhancement, helped by a visible, higher-footfall spot — not a 5 Bridges replacement
Scored against the 100-point framework, drawing on aerial imagery,
public mapping and the assessor's first-hand experience skating the
site; a structured visit with a photographic record remains a Phase 2
step. Leam Lane scores 44/100 (Poor), low across access (7/20),
infrastructure (8/30) and weather protection (2/20) — a modest,
uncovered neighbourhood facility of dated, very limited equipment, lifted
only slightly by a recently repainted bowl. Its clearest asset on the
ground is a higher-footfall, highly visible location.
Its replacement potential (27/30) is its strongest scored dimension, with
usable expansion and covering headroom. It is a high-priority enhancement
site but not a replacement candidate for the covered 5 Bridges plaza.
